The appellation Santenay is located south of the appellation Chassagne-Montrachet known for its magnificent white wines, on the Côte de Beaune . Its vineyard extends over 330 hectares planted mainly in Pinot Noi r for the production of red wines (90%) and Chardonnay grape for the whites. Oriented south-east, the soil of Santenay consists of grayish and white (oolithic) limestones on marly levels. Eleven climats (plots) obtained a Premier Cru classification for the quality of the wines produced on these plots. The red wines of Santenay are of sustained color, ranging from mauve to dark ruby. Featuring a particularly flowery bouquet, they release notes of red fruit and ferns. They are supple and aromatic, with tannins present and sometimes very tight in their youth. They deserve a little patience. The white wines of Santenay , which are rarer, are no less delicious. Of generally clear color, they develop floral notes and notes of citrus, ferns and hazelnut. In the mouth, they prove to be persistent, with a nice acidity allowing an average keeping. Really good.
