The vineyards of the Appellation Juliénas are located on the borders of the departments of the Rhône and Saône et Loire, in the Beaujolais region. The Beaujolais is a region mostly located on the eastern flank of the central massif, along the Saône, in the north of the Lyon region. The southernmost vineyard of Burgundy , Beaujolais is located in the north of the department of the Rhone and the south of the Saône et Loire department. The soils are mainly granitic, and their diversity has allowed the creation of ten wines recognized by a registered designation of origin, whose appellation Juliénas , recognized since 1938. The area of the vineyard of Juliénas is about 585 hectares, for a production close to 22 000 hectoliters. The slopes of its vineyards rest on granitic soils, not very thick and dry. The lands located below Juliénas are, on the other hand, more clayey and deep. Exclusively Red, the appellation Juliénas comes from the emblematic Beaujolais grape variety: the Gamay. This black grape with white juice produces here excellent wines, of character: they appreciate as well young as after a few years of bottle where they bear very well the mark of time.   Colour : The Juliénas wears a purplish dress in the first months. If this tint fades with time, the wine retains a particularly dark color. Nose: The complex palette mixes floral perfumes (peony or violet) with fruit aromas (raspberry, strawberry, blackcurrant and gooseberry). In some vintages, the Juliénas evokes vineyard fishing. Sign of distinction, mineral and spicy notes complete the nose. Mouth: The Juliénas has a characteristic nervousness that balances its richness in tannins. Its structure gives it a rustic side that affirms its personality. The wine keeps many years its qualities and gains a lot in aging
