The controlled designation of origin Morey Saint Denis , recognized in 1936, is one of the oldest appellations of Burgundy. However, it is not very well known, but still contains real treasures. Located between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, the vineyard of Morey Saint Deni s extends on "only" one hundred hectares, of which more than half in Premier and Grand Cru. The latter do not bear any mention of the appellation Morey Saint Deni s, except the "Clos Saint Denis". However, all lovers of great wines know the Clos des Lambrays, the Clos de Tart, the Clos de la Roche, or the Bonnes Mares, shared with the appellation Chambolle Musigny. Twenty Climates are classified in 1er Cru. The red wines of Morey Saint Denis are fine wines, typical of the Côte de Nuits, halfway between the wines of Gevrey Chambertin and the wines of Chambolle Musigny. Their color is often intense, of a beautiful ruby. Their nose is marked by pinot noir, developing notes of red fruits and blackcurrant, sometimes of violets. It asserts itself with age and often evolves towards notes more animal. The red wines of Morey Saint Denis are wines to keep and the tannins present refined with time, like all the Great Wines of Burgundy. White wines are rare (about 5 hectares are planted in Chardonnay or Pinot Blanc), but are also of great interest, rich and ample.
