The 2006 vintage is one of those vintages that recognize the talent of the vine growers: Changing climatic conditions, sometimes in the right direction, sometimes not. Thus in Alsace, the 2006 vintage was saved in extremis by rigorous and conscientious winegrowers. Similarly in Burgundy, where it is necessary to make a "sorting" in the offer, both the differences can be important between the quality of the wines in the same appellation. On the other hand, Bordeaux wines and especially Sauternes wines (Yquem in the lead, which explains the soaring market price), are of a very high quality. The wines of Provence, Corsica and Roussillon are just fabulous, rich and full-bodied as you like them.
